Germanwings continues to rely on Lufthansa Technik’s Cyclean Engine Wash system: the contract between MRO specialist Lufthansa Technik and Germanwings has recently been extended. The engine washes for the Airbus A319 fleet of Germanwings will be carried out at the Cyclean service stations in Stuttgart, Cologne, Hanover and Berlin. The fleet currently comprises 31 aircraft, with a further seven airplanes due to be added within the next two years. Germanwings’ V2500 and CFM56-5B engines will be washed twice a year, in spring and autumn. This washing cycle has proved optimal for the airline in the past, based on the flight routes and ground times. Thanks to regular engine washes with Cyclean, the airline has cut its fuel consumption by up to 0.5% on average.
