GE Aviation recently received Level 3 appraisal of the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) and is the first to demonstrate compliance with the CMMI Security by Design practices (CMMI-DEV V1.3). CMMI is the industry standard for ensuring predictable, high quality software development in the Aviation industry. The appraisal was accomplished over a two-week period including the review of more than 4800 artifacts and 17 interviews. The appraisal covered the 18 process areas and the four selected programs including the Flight Management System U11 in Grand Rapids, MI, LEAP and Passport engines in Evendale, OH and the Improved Turbine Engine Program (ITEP) in Lynn, MA. “To take this achievement even further, we took the added step of being the first company to demonstrate compliance with the CMMI Security by Design practices,” added Daily. “Given the increasing global threats from cyber security and the absolute imperative for aviation safety, this rating further demonstrates our relentless commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all of our aviation products. This CMMI appraisal validates our on-going commitment to providing the highest performance, most reliable, and most secure software products to our customers.”
