Saga Airlines orders two Boeing Next-Generation 737-800s
Saga, the Istanbul-based airline, has ordered two Boeing 737-800s with Blended Winglets. Saga Airlines has also secured two purchase rights for the same model. This order is valued at $149 million at current list prices.

Saga Airlines, which is the sister company of Saga Tours and Istanbul Petrol A.S commenced operations in April 2004. The airline has a fleet of six airplanes, including four 737s. Saga Airlines, with 283 employees, conducts wet-lease operations in different countries.

» AerCap signs agreements for $358 million of funding for Airbus A330s
AerCap Holdings has signed a series of agreements with China Development Bank which provides funding for $86 million of pre-delivery payments and a $272 million long term funding facility covering four new Airbus A330 aircraft with deliveries scheduled in 2010 and 2011. The four aircraft are part of AerCap's 30 A330 order placed in 2006/2007 with deliveries scheduled until 2012.

» Lockheed Martin receives contracts to continue A-10 modernization and sustainment
Lockheed Martin has received three contracts totaling $7.7 million from the U.S. Air Force for the continued modernization and sustainment of the A-10 close air support fighter jet.

The contracts address the following content:
a trade study to look for a new, more cost-efficient fuel system tester aimed at increasing overall maintenance effectiveness;
integration of the Fuel Quantity Intermediate Device to help pilots more effectively manage onboard fuel reserves that will maximize time on station during training and combat operations;
Support of the Aircraft Structural Integrity Program to support safe flight operations, ensuring structural integrity of the A-10 fleet through the end of its service life.

The three task orders are part of the Thunderbolt Lifecycle Program Support (TLPS), an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract that allows the U.S. Air Force to authorize up to $1.6 billion of aircraft support activity during an initial four-year order period followed by three two-year optional contract periods. Lockheed Martin was named as one of three associate prime contractors for TLPS in June 2009.

» Boeing delivers 3rd Australian F/A-18F Super Hornet ahead of schedule
Boeing delivered the Royal Australian Air Force's (RAAF) third F/A-18F Block II Super Hornet three months ahead of schedule on Sept. 30, after completing production on the multirole fighter at Boeing Integrated Defense Systems' St. Louis facility. The remaining RAAF Super Hornets, each equipped with the Raytheon-built APG-79 Active Electronically Scanned Array radar, will be delivered through 2011.
