Aviall Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, has entered into an agreement with Pratt & Whitney Commercial Engine Group for exclusive global distribution rights for new parts for non-military JT9D 7/7Q/7R series turbofan engines. Per terms of the agreement, the contract extends for the life of the engine program and Aviall will assume distributorship of the JT9D new engine parts following a formal transition period, estimated to last about six months.
The JT9D 7/7Q/7R series turbofan engines are installed on aircraft such as the Boeing 747-100/200/300 (classics), DC-10 and Airbus A300 and A310. The JT9D has a globally installed base of more than 1,200 engines used in both passenger and utility applications. Aviall will be responsible for order fulfillment, forecasting, sales, distribution and marketing of OEM (original equipment manufacturer) parts.
