On December 21st, 2021, a CSN A380 and a B747 was towed into GAMECO Phase III hangar, marking the on-time completion of the strategic expansion project.
GAMECO Phase III hangar is located to the north of Phase I and Phase II. It covers an area of 50,482.7 m² with the total construction area of 98,086.7 m². The total investment of Phase III hangar amounts to RMB 886 million. The complex consists of a 34,000 m² maintenance hall with a span of 334 metres, a three-floor office and workshop building and a 15,000 m² basement for parking, civil defence and equipment storage. Aircraft washing, engine run-up and limited maintenance work will be performed on a newly added 59,000 m² apron area. Phase III hangar can simultaneously park six wide-body aircraft and five narrow-body aircraft and is designed to accommodate various aircraft types such as A380, A330, B777, B787, A320 and B737.
With the completion of Phase III hangar, the capacity of GAMECO will increase from 20 heavy maintenance production lines to 31, effectively alleviating the shortage of wide-body slots. This way GAMECO can offer more space and achieve more flexible slot planning for base maintenance to its customers and better support cargo conversion business. After Phase III hangar is put into use, it will also drive the development of line maintenance, component repair, composite repair, landing gear overhaul and part manufacturing, etc., providing stronger support for the rapid growth of China Southern Airlines’ fleet and greater production capacity to undertake third-party business at home and abroad.
