Regional orders two more E-Jets

Regional, a wholly owned subsidiary of Air France, signed a contract for two additional E-Jets, one EMBRAER 170 and one EMBRAER 190, confirming options originally taken in August 2007. The value of the new deal, at list price, is $ 69 million. Both planes are scheduled for delivery in 2009.

SAESL breaks ground on new $45 million facility extension

Singapore Aero Engine Services Private Limited (SAESL), which specialises in the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) of Rolls-Royce Trent aero engines, on February 18th broke ground on the site for a new two-storey, 12,000 Sq M development located at Calshot Road in Changi, Singapore. Iberia to maintain aircraft and engines for Air Comet

TAM receives new Airbus A320

TAM incorporated a new Airbus A320 to its fleet, brought directly from the factory at Toulouse, France. With this aircraft, TAM now has 103 Airbus models – 15 A319s, 71 A320s, 3 A321s, 12 A330s and 2 A340s. The arrival of the new airplane reinforces TAM’s policy of operating a fleet with a low average age, ensuring greater passenger comfort.

IAE V2500 to power Tiger Airways fleet expansion

International Aero Engines reported Singapore-based low-cost airline group Tiger Airways had chosen the V2500 to power 20 Airbus A320 family aircraft. All engines will be of the SelectOne build standard and will be backed by a long-term V2500Select agreement. The combined engine purchase and aftermarket agreement is valued at $580 million to IAE. Tiger Airways currently operates a fleet of 12 V2500-powered Airbus A320 family aircraft, with 58 on firm order with deliveries through to 2016. Singapore Airlines selects Trent 900 and TotalCare for additional A380s

Singapore Airlines has selected the Rolls-Royce Trent 900 to power a follow-on order for nine firm additional Airbus A380s. The contract also includes a TotalCare long-term services agreement. The airline previously selected the Trent 900 to power its initial fleet of 10 A380s, of which two have entered commercial service. These engines are also covered by a TotalCare agreement.

Final Assembly Begins on second Boeing 787 Dreamliner

Final assembly started on February 15th on the second flight-test airplane for the all-new Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Loaded snugly into the first position of the 787 production system, workers in the Everett, Wash.-based factory can now begin joining together the fuselage sections and wings. All major joins take place in this position. While this is the second of six flight-test airplanes, this Dreamliner is actually the fourth on the production line. It follows the two airplanes that will be used for static and fatigue testing.

Arab Wings chairman purchases Global 5000 jet

Mohammed Abu Ghazaleh, chairman of Arab Wings, has placed a firm order for a high-speed Global 5000 jet, with the Global Vision cockpit, making him the Middle East launch customer for the all-new flight deck. Scheduled for delivery in 2011, the aircraft will be operated by Arab Wings and available for charter from its Amman, Jordan, base.
