Finnish carrier BLUE1 extends RJ85 lease with BAE Systems

Finnish regional carrier Blue1, which is a member of the SAS Group, has signed a long-term lease extension with BAE Systems Regional Aircraft on one RJ85 (msn E2392). This lease will see the aircraft operating in the Blue1 fleet well into the next decade. BAE Systems reports strong market for Jetstream 41

BAE Systems Regional Aircraft confirms that the market for its portfolio Jetstream 41 remains buoyant and that during 2007 a total of 22 transactions were completed, more than double the 2006 total. Boeing begins major assembly of first new 777 Freighter

Boeing mechanics began major assembly of the new 777 Freighter at the company’s Everett, Wash., facility on January 29th. The first 777 Freighter will be delivered to launch customer Air France in the fourth quarter of 2008. “Our vision to develop the 777 Freighter as the world’s most capable twin-engine cargo airplane is now becoming a reality with the start of major assembly,” said Kim Pastega, deputy program manager and engineering leader, 777 Freighter Program. “Our customers and suppliers worked closely with us to reach this important milestone.”

$260 million for FF5000 aircraft development

Freight Feeder Aircraft Corporation has entered into a $260 million investment banking engagement agreement for a two year period with CapNet Securities Corporation (“CapNet”) as its exclusive financial consultant, placement Agent and finder in connection with various financing strategies. The initial (Stage 1) contemplated equity financing is planned at $10 million which will be used to continue the development of the Freight Feeder Prototype aircraft now under construction by Metalcraft Technologies. The secondary (Stage 2) contemplated equity financing is planned at $250 million which will be used to complete FAA Certification and commence initial production of the Freight Feeder aircraft.

Rolls-Royce increases Middle East order book with engine order from Oman

Rolls-Royce increased its growing presence in the Middle East with orders from Oman Air for Trent 700s. Oman Air, the national airline of the Sultanate of Oman, has selected Trent 700 engines to power its new fleet of five purchased and two new leased Airbus A330 aircraft. The value of the business, including a TotalCare long-term services agreement, is $460 million at list prices, with deliveries due to begin in 2009.

MatlinPatterson signs for six A330-200F

MatlinPatterson Global Advisers LLC, the US investment fund, through an affiliate, has signed a firm contract for six A330-200 Freighter aircraft. The company intends for the aircraft to be used by certain of its airline portfolio companies, such as Varig Logistica in Brazil and Global Aero Logistics in the USA. With this agreement the two airlines will become new Airbus operators. This new contract brings firm orders for the recently launched A330-200F to 72 firm orders from eight customers, confirming the strong market demand in the Freighter sector.

Joint venture airline AeroLogic to operate Boeing 777 freighters

Deucalion Capital VII Limited (“Deucalion”), a company advised and managed by DVB Bank AG, has purchased eight Boeing 777 Freighters for lease to AeroLogic, a new joint venture airline formed by Lufthansa Cargo and DHL Express. Valued at $2 billion at list prices, the eight 777 Freighters were ordered by Avion Group of Iceland in 2005. Avion Group terminated its order and the airplanes were picked up by Deucalion in late 2007.
