BAE Systems announces improved spares support service for Jetstream 31/32

BAE Systems Regional Aircraft announces the appointment of Saywell International as its sole distributor of spares for the Jetstream 31/32 regional turboprop aircraft. The agreement comes into force from February 4, 2008. BAE Systems itself will continue to provide full technical and continued airworthiness support and delivery of technical publications to the Jetstream 31/32 fleet. Iberia wins new contracts to maintain another 20 engines

Iberia has signed new exclusive contracts with Italian carriers Eurofly and Meridiana to maintain their CFM-56-5B engines at the Iberia Maintenance facilities in Madrid. The five-year contracts call for the maintenance of 20 CFM-56-5B engines, as well as their components, used to power eight Airbus A-320s and two Airbus A-319s. Meridiana was founded in 1963 to help develop the Costa Smeralda in Sardinia. Based in Olbia, it operates 62 flights to 30 destinations. Eurofly is another Italian company with flights to 18 destinations, including Fuerteventura and Tenerife Sur in the Canary Islands.

Goodrich EFB receives STC certification for Bombardier Global Express

Goodrich released that its Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) system has received Supplemental Type Certification (STC) from Transport Canada for the Bombardier Global Express family of aircraft. This includes the Global Express, the Global XRS and the Global 5000. The certification process was conducted by Business Jet Aircraft Completions (BJAC), based in Dorval, Quebec, Canada. Goodrich selected BJAC as a worldwide authorized sales and service center of Goodrich Electronic Flight Bag systems for business jet aircraft last year.

Telair International named as supplier for 747-8 program

Telair International has been selected by Boeing to supply the cargo-handling system for the new Boeing 747-8. The supplier will provide systems for the main deck and lower hold of the 747-8 Freighter, as well as the lower hold of the 747-8 Intercontinental. American Airlines and Aircell begin broadband connectivity installation

American Airlines has completed the first aircraft installation of the Aircell Internet broadband connectivity solution at American’s Kansas City maintenance base. American, which will be the first U.S. airline to offer customers Aircell’s Internet broadband solution, plans to install and test the technology in 2008 on all 15 of its Boeing 767-200 aircraft that primarily fly transcontinental routes.

Kaman signs follow-on contract to supply wing components to Boeing

Kaman Aerospace Corporation reported that its Aerostructures Division has signed a seven-year follow-on contract with The Boeing Company for the production of wing fixed trailing edge assemblies on the Boeing 777 and 767 aircraft at Kaman’s Jacksonville, Fla., facility. The agreement calls for Kaman to supply components for all configurations of the 777 and 767 at the Boeing annual production rates.

V Australia selects Rockwell Collins avionics for 777s

V Australia, the new international long-haul airline of Australia launched recently by Virgin Blue, has selected a suite of Rockwell Collins avionics for seven firm and six option Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. Deliveries are scheduled to start in September 2008.

Spring Airlines signs 15-year OnPoint solution agreement

Chinese low-cost carrier Spring Airlines has signed a 15-year OnPointSM solution agreement with GE Aviation’s Services business for the maintenance and overhaul of the CFM56-5B engines that power the airlines fleet of Airbus A320 aircraft. The agreement, which covers the engines powering the airline’s recently announced fleet of 10 purchased A320 as well as 20 leased aircraft, is valued at more than $200 million of the life of the contract.
