TIMCO Aviation Services, Inc. announced that it has selected Pittsburgh, PA, as the site for its new CFM56 engine center that will eventually employ approximately 200 people. The 75,000 square-foot center, scheduled to commence operations in early 2006, will offer off-wing maintenance, repair and overhaul services on CFM56-3 series engines, as wellas on-wing support services for all CFM56 series engines.

IAE International Aero Engines launched ExecSelectSM, a support program for Airbus corporate applications of the V2500 engine. ExecSelectSM is a combined engine upgrade and aftermarket support program which provides the customer with reduced and predictable operating costs, improved fuel burn and offers time-on-wing improvements. Under this program IAE will condition monitor engines and provide technical assistance when necessary and when an engine requires overhaul, IAE will provide full logistical support. SR Technics has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Okay Airways to form a maintenance Joint Venture (JV) in China. Okay Airways, which was established in June 2004, is the first privately owned airline in China. Singapore Technologies Aerospace Ltd (ST Aerospace) announced that its US facility, ST Mobile Aerospace Engineering (MAE), has been awarded a contract by the New Zealand Ministry of Defence. The contract, worth US$38m (approximately S$65m), involves a cargo conversion and avionics upgrade programme for two of the Royal New Zealand Air Force’s (RNZAF) Boeing 757-200 aircraft. China Aviation Industry Corporation (AVIC 1) and Airbus confirmed the extension of their cooperation in activities to produce A320 Family wing boxes in China. Boeing Business Jets signed a service contract with Jet Aviation Singapore, making the company the first authorized service center for BBJs in the Asia Pacific region. Jet Aviation will provide maintenance, repair and overhaul services as well as warranty work on behalf of BBJ customers.

Singapore Technologies Aerospace Ltd (ST Aerospace), the aerospace arm of Singapore Technologies Engineering Ltd (ST Engineering), today announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, ST Aerospace Supplies, was awarded a contract by Chinese airline, China United Airlines. The agreement, worth US$9 million (about S$15 million), involves components management and maintenance support for China United Airlines’ fleet of 3 Boeing 737 aircraft over five years. To date, ST Aerospace has been awarded component support programmes by four of China’s emerging airlines.

Boeing and Singapore Airlines signed a maintenance agreement to reduce the airline’s operating costs. Boeing will manage the airline’s total expendable spare parts inventory as well as provide a means to monitor the health of its airplanes in flight. Singapore Airlines is the first to sign for this integrated maintenance solution, which combines Boeing’s Integrated Materials Management (IMM) and Airplane Health Management (AHM). Through IMM, Boeing will be responsible for purchasing, inventory management and logistics for Singapore Airlines total expendable aircraft parts. Through AHM, Boeing will provide real-time airplane information to reduce schedule interruptions and increase maintenance efficiency.
