Air Lease Corporation issues $120 million in unsecured notes

Air Lease Corporation (ALC) has issued $120 million in Senior Unsecured Notes in a private placement to institutional investors. The notes contain a 5% coupon for a 5-year term with a maturity of June 6, 2016. The issuance constitutes the first time ALC has obtained long term unsecured financing under the SEC’s Regulation D in a private placement to institutional investors. “The issuance of these notes sends a strong signal from the investment community about ALC’s stated goal of tapping unsecured financing to fund our future fleet acquisitions,” said Jim Clarke, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of ALC.

First ANA crews complete Boeing 787 pilot training

Boeing and ANA have completed pilot training in Seattle, Wash., for the first airline crews who will fly the 787 Dreamliner. Ten ANA pilots concluded their training after each pilot performed flights in ZA001 – the first 787 flight test airplane – over Washington state. These initial crews to go through training are ANA’s senior training pilots and check airmen and will conduct both simulator and airplane line training for ANA in Japan. Airline places order for up to six Bombardier CSeries aircraft

Bombardier Aerospace reported that an unidentified airline has placed a firm order for three CS100 aircraft and options on three more. Deliveries of the aircraft will start in 2014. Based on the list price for the CS100 aircraft, the firm order placed by the unidentified carrier is valued at $186 million, which could increase to $385 million, should all three options be converted to firm orders.

Albanian Airlines acquires BAe 146-300 from BAE Systems

Albanian Airlines has bought and taken delivery of a BAe 146-300 regional jetliner from BAE Systems. The aircraft, configured in a comfortable six-abreast, 98-seat all-economy class layout, joins two other BAe 146s (one Series 200 and one Series 300) that are used by the airline. This third aircraft has been acquired to increase frequencies on existing routes from the capital Tirana and for route expansion. Albanian Airlines was acquired in August 2009 by the Turkish Evsen Group, and has been restructured and put on a better foundation for future growth.

bmi enhances commitment with Lufthansa Technik

British airline group bmi is to further expand its cooperation with Lufthansa Technik with the signing of two new agreements. The first sees bmi and Lufthansa Technik extend the base maintenance agreement for 41 aircraft, the second is a new partnership for line maintenance support at London Heathrow airport. Smyrna Air Center has completed its first Power 90 Upgrade conversion for AeroMetric, one of the largest and most experienced full service geospatial solutions companies in the United States. GE Aviation’s M601E-11A engines are now powering AeroMetric’s King Air E-90 aircraft for their site in Anchorage, Alaska. The Power 90 Upgrade Program is a conversion program for owners of King Air 90 aircraft, in which the installed engines are replaced with the powerful 705 shaft-horsepower (shp) GE M601E-11A engines.
