Jazeera Airways and Lufthansa Technik AG, a leading provider for maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) of airplanes, components and engines, have extended the existing 10-year Total Engine Support TES from 2006 for further two years. The agreement comprises 13 CFM56-5B engines of the six Airbus A320 airplanes of Jazeera Airway’s fleet.

flydubai, Dubai’s first low-cost airline, has signed a 10-year OnPoint solution agreement with GE Aviation for the maintenance, overhaul and repair of its 109 CFM56-7B engines that power its Boeing Next-Generation 737-800 aircraft. All Nippon Airways (ANA) also has signed a 10-year OnPoint solution agreement with GE Aviation, for the material to support its GE90 engine fleet. ANA operates 19 GE90-115B-powered Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. The deal is valued at close to $500 million.

Emirates Airline has unveiled plans for the construction of the most technologically-advanced Engine Overhaul Shop in Asia. The state-of-the-art Engine Shop will complement the present Test Cell Facility in Dubai and will be constructed on a 90,000 square meter piece of land at an estimated cost of US$120 million. The growth of the Emirates fleet and the subsequent number of operating engines have necessitated the need for an in-house Engine Shop in Dubai to provide the most cost-effective, efficient engine maintenance. Héroux-Devtek, a leading Canadian manufacturer of aerospace and industrial products, has been awarded a seven-year contract by Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company to manufacture the landing gear for the C-130J Super Hercules aircraft. Under the terms of the agreement, Héroux-Devtek will manufacture and assemble the landing gear for Lockheed Martin’s global production of C-130J aircraft and provide spare parts over a seven-year period beginning in January 2012. China Eastern and its subsidiary Shanghai Airlines officially joined the SkyTeam global airline alliance at a ceremony held in Beijing on June 21st. In welcoming these Shanghai-based airlines, SkyTeam cements its position as the region’s leading airline alliance, offering 10% more daily departures to and from the Greater China region. China Eastern becomes the 14th airline to join SkyTeam, which is expected to grow to 19 members by 2012.

Air Austral and the Engine Alliance have finalized agreements for the purchase of GP7200 engines and a 10-year Fleet Management Agreement to cover the maintenance, repair and overhaul of the engines that will power Air Austral’s two A380 aircraft. The total value of the deal is worth more than $240 million at list prices. Air Austral is based in Saint Denis, La Reunion. Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. reported the baseline delivery of six S-76C++ helicopters to SonAir Servico Aereo S.A. for support of offshore oil operations in Angola. SonAir has been flying Sikorsky products for more than 15 years. Currently, SonAir owns 15 S-76 aircraft for offshore oil missions in Angola and has contracted for three new S-76C++ helicopters for search and rescue (SAR) operations. Those aircraft are expected to arrive in Angola later this year, bringing SonAir’s total Sikorsky fleet to 18 aircraft.

Monarch has signed an exclusive three-year agreement for Pratt & Whitney’s environmentally friendly EcoPower engine wash service. The washes will be performed by Pratt & Whitney Global Service Partners at Manchester, London Luton and London Gatwick Airports. The first Boeing 787 Dreamliner, ZA001, has joined the historic line up of Boeing airplanes on display at the Paris Air Show. The all-new jetliner will be on display for the next two days. GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS) announced that it will purchase two 747-8 Freighters and eight 777-300ERs (Extended Range).
