UAL Corporation to boost liquidity by $275 million

UAL Corporation reported financing transactions that will add approximately $275 million of cash prior to year end. The company has completed a $125 million aircraft financing agreement, receiving approximately $60 million on September 30th, and will receive the remaining approximately $65 million by mid October. United has also executed agreements and agreements in principle (subject to reaching final documentation and other conditions) to sell certain assets for approximately $140 million. Lufthansa Technik expands cooperation with Croatia Airlines

Lufthansa Technik AG in Hamburg and Croatia Airlines are further expanding their cooperation. FreeFlight Systems, an international supplier of professional-grade navigation systems for commercial and military aircraft, announced a definitive agreement to be acquired by a new executive management team and their financial partner, Elm Creek Partners. The new team officially assumed responsibility for corporate operations on July 15, 2008. L2 Consulting Services awarded 737NG Iridium Certification project

L2 Consulting Services has been selected by a Major US Carrier (unnamed at this point) to certify an International Communications Group (ICG) Iridium NxtLink 220A Iridium satellite communication system on 737NG aircraft. The certification is being undertaken to allow voice and ACARS operations beyond land-based VHF coverage. The ICG Iridium NxtLink 220A device is a comprehensive communications system that provides the Flight Crew with a dedicated Datalink channel to support; ACARS, FANs messaging, CPDLC and an exclusive global voice channel. L2 currently holds existing Iridium certifications on B747, B757 and B767 aircraft.

Sikorsky teams with Carson Helicopters to launch modernization program for S-61 aircraft

Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. announced the signing of an agreement with Carson Helicopters that will lead to the launch of a modernization program for the legendary S-61 Sikorsky helicopter. Approximately 620 S-61 helicopters remain in service in both the commercial and military markets worldwide. The aircraft first began flying in 1959, and the more than 1,000 that were produced have flown 3.8 million flight hours combined.
