Vietnam Airlines and Vietnam Aircraft Leasing finalize 787 order with Boeing

Vietnam Airlines and Vietnam Aircraft Leasing Co. (VALC) have finalized an order for a total of 12 Boeing 787-8s with a list value of approximately $2 billion. Vietnam Airlines will take four of the new airplanes and VALC will purchase the remaining eight Dreamliners, leasing them to Vietnam Airlines. This is the second order for the 787 Dreamliner by the airline, following a previous order for four airplanes in 2005. Republic Airways reports 32% increase in December 2007 traffic

Republic Airways Holdings reported preliminary passenger traffic results for December 2007. The company reported that traffic increased 32.1% over the same month last year, while cpacity increased 32.9%. The load factor was 69.3% versus 69.7% in December 2006.

ABX completes CHI acquisition and holding company formation

ABX Holdings, Inc., successor to ABX Air, Inc. has completed its previously announced (November 2, 2007) holding company reorganization and plan to acquire Cargo Holdings International (CHI), a privately held provider of outsourced air cargo services based in Orlando, Fla., for $332 million in cash and common shares of ABX Holdings, its newly formed parent company. South Korea's Jeju Air completes order for 737-800s

South Korea-based Jeju Air has ordered five Boeing Next-Generation 737-800s to meet future growth plans. The new airplanes are valued at $370 million at list prices. The 737s will be the first Boeing airplanes to enter the Jeju Air fleet. The airline currently operates five regional jets of smaller capacity.

Rolls-Royce grows presence in Northern Virginia

Rolls-Royce announced two steps to better position its business activities in North America. In mid-2008, the company will move its North American corporate headquarters, which employs 130 people, from Chantilly, Virginia to a new building in Reston, Virginia. TAM receives loan to finance pre-delivery payments for 30 aircraft

TAM signed a loan agreement with the BNP Paribas bank to finance up to $ 117.1 million in pre-delivery payment (PDP) operations for 30 Airbus aircraft contracted with the French company, with confirmed purchase orders and deliveries scheduled for the period 2008 to 2010. US Airways recalls more than 200 flight attendants

US Airways announces the recall of more than 200 flight attendants effective Feb. 15, 2008. The recalls are being initiated to ramp up for the busy summer schedule and to compensate for retirement and attrition. Notices are being issued to eligible employees on a seniority basis among furloughed US Airways flight attendants. Since merging with America West in 2005, US Airways has recalled 330 flight attendants.

Adam Aircraft selects Varify Inc. to provide supplier quality services

Adam Aircraft Industries (AAI) has awarded Verify, Inc., a provider of supply chain and technical support services, a supplier quality services contract. Adam Aircraft is supplementing their supplier quality engineering organization with personnel from Verify. Adam Aircraft designs and manufactures a family of innovative general aviation aircraft, including the centerline thrust, twin-engine A500, and the A700 twin-engine very light jet. On December 6th, 2007, the A700 joined the already-certified A500 in receiving its first type Inspection Authorization (TIA) from the Federal Aviation Administration. FAA certification of the A700 is on target for 2008.

GOL increases Boeing 737-800 Next Generation order to 161 aircraft

GOL Linhas Aereas Inteligentes S.A. has exercised firm orders for 34 Boeing 737-800 NGs, completing the purchase option for 121 aircraft negotiated in October 2006, and has signed a new contract for the acquisition of 40 additional aircraft for delivery in 2012-2014.
