Virgin America and Revision3 partner to bring web-TV to the skies

Virgin America and Revision3, the Internet TV network built for the web generation, are partnering to bring original, cutting-edge web-based television programming to guests on the next generation carrier’s flights. Revision3 programming on Virgin America will make its debut this March and will be available on the airline’s flights to New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., Las Vegas, San Diego and Seattle.

Joint venture airline AeroLogic to operate Boeing 777 freighters

Deucalion Capital VII Limited (“Deucalion”), a company advised and managed by DVB Bank AG, has purchased eight Boeing 777 Freighters for lease to AeroLogic, a new joint venture airline formed by Lufthansa Cargo and DHL Express. Valued at $2 billion at list prices, the eight 777 Freighters were ordered by Avion Group of Iceland in 2005. Avion Group terminated its order and the airplanes were picked up by Deucalion in late 2007. MatlinPatterson signs for six A330-200F

MatlinPatterson Global Advisers LLC, the US investment fund, through an affiliate, has signed a firm contract for six A330-200 Freighter aircraft. The company intends for the aircraft to be used by certain of its airline portfolio companies, such as Varig Logistica in Brazil and Global Aero Logistics in the USA. With this agreement the two airlines will become new Airbus operators. This new contract brings firm orders for the recently launched A330-200F to 72 firm orders from eight customers, confirming the strong market demand in the Freighter sector.

Focus Aviation sells B747-400

Focus Aviation has sold a Boeing 747-400 aircraft to EL AL Israel Airlines, on behalf of Rabobank International. The aircraft, serial number 26551, is currently on lease to Singapore Airlines and is due to be returned to the Lessor in the last quarter of 2008. Following its return off lease the aircraft will then be handed over to EL AL as part of the Israeli national airline’s fleet expansion plans.

Dash 8 Q400 construction error

The Danish Accident Investigation Board has previously concluded that a construction error in the actuators was the cause of the first two accidents involving a Dash 8 Q400. The Accident Investigation Board has not presented any conclusion on the reason behind the third accident, but has in a provisional report stated that the most likely reason is that an O ring came loose from the SSV valve in the hydraulics system in combination with the following fault-tracing. Cessna delivered record 387 business jets in 2007

Cessna Aircraft Company delivered 1,274 aircraft in 2007 – including first deliveries of four models: the newly acquired (from Columbia Aircraft) Cessna 350 and 400 single-engine pistons, the all-new Citation Mustang entry level jet and the upgraded Citation Encore+ business jet. During the year, Cessna delivered 387 business jets, 80 turboprops and 807 piston aircraft. In 2006, the company recorded deliveries of 307 business jets, 67 turboprops and 865 piston aircraft.
