SkyWorks Leasing adds two executives

SkyWorks Leasing announced today that it has added two executives to its management team. Nancy A. Zajac was named senior vice president and Vanki W. Chow was named vice president. Alaska Air Cargo names Joe Samudovsky Director of cargo sales

Alaska Air Cargo has named Joe Samudovsky director of cargo sales, responsible for building cargo revenue opportunities at Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air. An air cargo veteran, Samudovsky spent more than 20 years at United Airlines in progressively responsible cargo roles, including sales representative, district sales manager, special account services manager and domestic and international mail manager. Alaska Air Cargo is investing $100 million to upgrade its cargo fleet and infrastructure. Alaska Airlines recently retrofitted five Boeing 737-400 aircraft into cargo configurations, increasing the carrier’s overall cargo capacity by 20 percent.

U.S. Army selects AAR for CH-47 component repair services

AAR has been awarded a five-year contract by the U.S. Army for the repair and overhaul of a key control component on the CH-47 (Chinook) helicopter, valued at $25 million. The work will be performed by AAR Aircraft Component Services — New York and is scheduled to begin in March 2008.

Egyptair selects Rolls-Royce Trent 700 and TotalCare for additional A330s

EgyptAir has selected the Rolls-Royce Trent 700 to power an additional fleet of up to eight Airbus A330s, due for delivery from 2011. Including a TotalCare long-term services agreement, the contract is valued at around $500 million at list prices. The airline already operates a fleet of seven Trent 700-powered A330s and 16 Airbus A320-family aircraft powered by the V2500, which is made by the IAE (International Aero Engines) consortium in which Rolls-Royce is a leading shareholder. Avianca signs 15-year, $750 million OnPoint solution agreement

Avianca has signed a 15-year OnPointSM solution agreement with GE Aviation’s Services business for the maintenance and overhaul of the CFM56-5B engines that power the airline’s fleet of 50 Airbus A319 and A320 aircraft. The agreement is valued at more than $750 million. The maintenance and overhaul work will be performed at the GE’s Celma facility at Petropolis, Brazil. Avianca has taken delivery of its first A320 aircraft. In 2007, the airline signed agreements to purchase 47 A319/A320 aircraft and has leased three additional airplanes from CIT Aerospace.

US Airways chooses Trent 700 engines for up to 30 A330-200

US Airways has chosen Trent 700 engines to power up to 30 Airbus A330-200 twinjets. The value of the new business is approximately $2 billion and includes two long-term TotalCare services agreements for the Trent 700 and RB211 engine fleets. The A330 order comprises engines for 15 firm and up to 15 additional aircraft. This is the latest in a series of engine orders placed by US Airways since mid-2007. Babcock & Brown Aircraft Management delivers Boeing 737-800 to Transavia

Babcock & Brown Aircraft Management reported the delivery of a new Boeing 737-800 aircraft to Transavia France on March 4, 2008, at Boeing Field in Seattle, Washington. The aircraft is the third of five new Boeing 737-800 aircraft that BBAM and its partner, Nomura Babcock & Brown Co., Ltd., have agreed to lease to Transavia France. The delivery of the first two aircraft occurred in May and June of 2007 and the final two aircraft are scheduled to be delivered in April and May of 2008.

Spirit AeroSystems to design and manufacture nacelle systems for RR BR725

Spirit Aero Systems has been selected to design and build the nacelle, thrust reverser and engine build up components for the Rolls-Royce BR725 engine; a contract worth in excess of $600 million. Spirit will also support the aforementioned products in the Rolls-Royce Corporate Care Program throughout the life of the airplane. The BR725 is the selected engine for Gulfstream’s recently-announced G650 business jet.

Embraer releases fourth quarter and fiscal year 2007 results

Embraer recorded fourth quarter 2007 net sales of $1,875.0 million and net sales for FY 2007 of $5,245.2 million. Net Income for 4Q07 and for the full year totaled $200.9 million and $489.3 million. Net revenues for 4Q07 totaled $1,875.0 million, a 77.0% increase compared to $1,059.6 million for the fourth quarter of 2006 (4Q06). Alaska Air Group announces stock repurchase program

Alaska Air Group released that its board of directors approved a stock repurchase program authorizing the company to purchase up to $50 million of its common stock. The new program follows the completion on Feb. 29, 2008, of a program to repurchase $100 million of the company’s outstanding stock. Under the program just completed, the company repurchased 4,113,782 shares, or 10% of the outstanding stock at the start of the program, at an average price of $24.31 per share.
