Hi Fly Airline, The Mirpuri Foundation, and The Aircraft Performance Company GmbH are pushing the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions of in-service aircraft forward – by introducing the new multi-fingered Plug&Fly retrofit wingtip solution TRINITAIR.
|
The new wingtip TRINITAIR is capable of reducing fuel consumption by up to 2% and on particular applications even more than that. In aviation each kg of fuel saved on a flight reduces CO2 emissions by 3.16 kg. This unprecedented equipment will bring airlines not only financial benefits; they will also enable them to strongly reduce their environmental footprint.

This pioneering initiative to create sustainable innovation, that will forever revolutionize the aviation industry, is now on its final phase. The new climate-saving and greenhouse-gas-emission reducing project will have its maiden test-flight on a Hi Fly A330. Hi Fly will be the first airline in the world to go on a flight with this new technology, supporting the transformation to a greener environment.

The new wingtip provides an enhanced aerodynamic solution, assisting aircraft manufacturers and airlines to reduce their CO2 emissions. TRINITAIR was designed by The Aircraft Performance Company GmbH (The APC) as a cost-effective retrofit solution for valuable in-service aircraft. Along with a downtime of less than one day for installation, the new hardware brings performance enhancement, lower engine wear, range extension and payload increase as well as a significant reduction of fuel burn that leads to lower emissions of CO2 and NOX.

Boeing will continue training Royal Air Force (RAF) C-17 aircrew and engineers at the C-17 International Training Centre (ITC) in Farnborough, delivering a technology-enabled program under a new Synthetic Training Service (STS) contract through 2040.
|
The training program will apply a combination of digitally based training, advanced aircraft simulation and desktop training devices to advance the expertise of pilots, loadmasters, and engineers who operate and maintain the C-17. The STS contract also includes development of two new engineering training devices that employ the latest technology for practical maintenance training on a C-17 wing engine and the main landing gear assembly.

Since 2014, Boeing has provided aircrew and engineering training support for the RAF’s C-17 Globemaster III fleet, which first arrived in the U.K. in 2001. The C-17 can carry equipment, supplies and troops directly to airfields in harsh terrain anywhere in the world, day or night, as well as supporting humanitarian operations. Today the RAF is one of nine global operators.

BOC Aviation has announced the appointment of Remi Le Meur as Head of Aircraft Sales, with effect from June 1, 2021, replacing Andrew Taylor who is retiring.
|
In his new role, Le Meur will oversee the aircraft sales department globally with primary responsibility for selling aircraft with leases attached and managing relationships with aircraft investors. He will be based in the company’s headquarters in Singapore.
|
Le Meur joined the company in 2011, where he was most recently Head of Airline Leasing and Sales for Europe and Africa, based in the Dublin office. He has 23 years of aircraft sales, airline marketing and leasing experience.

On Monday May 31 Austrian Airlines flew its last turboprop passenger flight with a Dash 8-Q400 travelling from Innsbruck to Vienna and back. From here on, Austrian Airlines fleet of aircraft will comprise only Airbus, Boeing, and Embraer jets.
|
The relationship with Dash-related aircraft began in 1985 when Tyrolean Airways – to be acquired by Austrian Airways in 1998 – took delivery of its first Dash 8-100, having flown its predecessor, the 50-seat De Havilland Canada DHC-7, from 1980. The Dash aircraft proved particularly popular on tricky short-landing runways, such as those at Innsbruck and Courchevel, and at the time of Tyrolean Airways takeover by Austrian Airlines, it was operating a combined fleet of 44 Dash 8-100s, -300s, and -400s. At Austrian Airlines, 18 Dash 8-Q400s were last in service on short-haul routes, for example on flights from Vienna to Milan, Warsaw or Zagreb.

“Austrian Airlines is well prepared for the fleet retirement of the Dash. With the comfortable, efficient Embraer and Airbus aircraft, we will continue to offer our passengers a good feeder service with Vienna as our hub”, said Austrian Airlines CCO Michael Trestl.

“The Dash has had an impressive career in our company, it is and will remain part of our history. We will not forget that. I would like to thank everyone who has served the Dash aircraft over the past decades, from the cabin and cockpit crews to the technician team and many more”, said Austrian Airlines COO Francesco Sciortino. “At peak times, the Dash 8-Q400 completed up to 44,000 individual flights per year”, says Austrian Airlines Dash fleet manager Thomas Bleimuth. “With this type of aircraft, it was also possible to fly to particularly demanding locations. For example, Tyrolean Airways used to fly the four-engine Dash 7 to Courchevel in the French Alps, an airfield at over 2,000 meters above sea level.”

United Airlines (United) has named Chief Customer Officer Toby Enqvist the airline's newest executive vice president. Enqvist was promoted on May 28, by the United Airlines Holdings Board of Directors. The promotion is effective immediately.
|
As EVP and Chief Customer Officer, Enqvist continues his oversight of the airline'siInflight services, catering operations, corporate Real Estate, contact centers and customer care, customer strategy and innovation, and customer experience and analytics. In addition, Enqvist is responsible for developing and providing United's employees with the leadership support needed to best serve the airline's customers.

Enqvist has been in the airline industry for more than 25 years, joining Continental in 1996. Throughout this career, he has held several senior leadership positions within operations and finance, including Senior Vice President of network operations and customer solutions for united.
|
A native of Sweden, Enqvist moved to the U.S. to attend Ouachita Baptist University where he earned his bachelor's degree in business administration. He also holds an MBA degree from Southern Methodist University.

Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has signed a US$200 million contract to provide unmanned aerial systems (UAS) services to a country in Asia, relating to IAI’s Heron unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). This is the fourth major UAS transaction that IAI has announced this year.
|
|
The Heron family leads IAI’s range of UAVs. The various Heron models are used regularly for operational missions by over 20 customers worldwide. Controlled remotely from sea frigates or the seashore, the Heron supports ground and maritime missions against submarines and coastal guards. It transmits information while at sea, including between all the weapon systems participating in a mission. The Heron UAS may be fitted with LOS or SATCOM communication, and features "long runner" operational flexibility with automated remote takeoff, landing, and control with no need for deploying a control post near the runway.
