On the eve of the 2019 National Business Aviation Association Convention & Exhibition in Las Vegas, Gulfstream has unveiled its all-new flagship G700 while announcing that Qatar Executive will be the launch customer.
|
According to Gulfstream, the G700 blends proven ultralong-range, speed and performance with flight-deck innovation and cutting-edge cabin creation to offer customers an unprecedented aircraft experience. “The Gulfstream G700 takes the very best elements from our most innovative products and unites them with cutting-edge advances to create an all-new, advanced-technology aircraft that redefines safety, comfort and range at speed,” said Mark Burns, Gulfstream’s president “This announcement is the biggest news in business aviation history and is the result of the investments General Dynamics made to develop Gulfstream technology for Gulfstream products. Thanks to our nearly 18,000 employees around the world, the G700 is continuing a long Gulfstream tradition: raising the bar for ourselves and the industry.

Qatar Executive demonstrated their confidence in Gulfstream when they committed as international launch customer for the G500, which is in service with them now alongside the G650ER. "We are grateful they have chosen to continue growing their Gulfstream fleet with our new flagship G700 and look forward to their customers traveling in the utmost comfort on the largest business jet in the industry.”

Qatar Executive has agreed to purchase ten G700s in addition to previously placed orders for the all-new Gulfstream G500TM and high-performing G650ERTM aircraft. “We are excited to be the launch customer of the G700, the largest business jet in the industry, and are looking forward to the aircraft joining our fleet,” said Akbar Al Baker, Group CEO of Qatar Airways. “Qatar Executive’s customers have extremely high standards, and this aircraft will help us meet their requirements by delivering unrivaled performance that complements our excellence in customer service.”

Aery Aviation is scheduled to complete major upgrades to a fleet of Boeing 777-200ER aircraft for the installation of FANS1/A and ADS-B Out for each of the aircraft. The multiple B-777 avionics fleet modifications including FANS 1/A and ADS-B Out are expected to begin during Q4 2019 and finish up in Q1 of 2020, with thirty days estimated for the total elapsed installation time per aircraft.

Aery intends to utilize an existing FAA Supplemental Type Certificate (STC), adding the Boeing 777 as a new model to the AML STC. Work will be completed by Aery’s experienced team of avionics technicians and engineers at the customer’s location during heavy maintenance checks. The work will be performed for an undisclosed International Operating airline.

The non-integrated FANS 1/A and ADS-B Out method is a cost-effective solution meeting all regulatory requirements for other global B-777 operators. "Aery intends to market this capability
and product to the marketplace upon completion of its initial order, installation, and certification," says Ken Walton, Aery’s Director of Commercial Business Development.

Volocopter, the pioneer in Urban Air Mobility (UAM), has successfully completed its first manned flight over Singapore’s Marina Bay on October 22. This was the last trial of a demanding test series to verify and validate the ability of Volocopter air taxis to fly over the area.
|
Government authorities including the Ministry of Transport (MOT), the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), and the Economic Development Board (EDB) supported Volocopter in this testing phase and will continue to do so in the future. This flight kicks-off Volocopter’s efforts to bring commercial air taxi services to Singapore.

A 2X model of the company’s test series flown by a pilot onboard was used. The flight covered a distance of approximately 1.5 km and lasted for two minutes at an average cruising height of 40 m.
|
Leading up to the flight, the aircraft had undergone intensive testing in Germany for several months. Following which, a rigorous flight test program to verify the Volocopter 2X aircraft performance under local environment was conducted at Seletar Airport in accordance with CAAS.

CAE has signed business aviation training contracts with five business aircraft operators worldwide valued at approximately C$50 million, including JetSuite and its sister company JSX, Silver Air, Solairus Aviation, TAG Aviation Holdings and Vulcan Flight Management.

JetSuite, an innovator in private jet aviation and its sister company JSX, have renewed their exclusive pilot training agreements with CAE for an additional six years for the Embraer Phenom 300 & 100 and Embraer Legacy Jet E145 platforms. Pilots will continue initial type-rating and recurrent training at CAE Dallas.

Silver Air, a private aircraft management company and direct charter operator, has renewed its exclusive pilot training agreement with CAE for an additional four years. Training will span across CAE’s global training network of large, super mid-size, mid-size and small, including Boeing, Bombardier, Cessna, Dassault, Gulfstream, Embraer and Hawker platforms. Pilots will continue training at CAE New Jersey Morristown and CAE Dallas.

Solairus, a private aviation services company whose core business is to assist aircraft owners with the safe, reliable, and efficient management and operation of their aircraft, has renewed its pilot training agreement with CAE for an additional four years on multiple aircraft platforms, including Bombardier, Dassault and Gulfstream. Solairus pilots will continue training at CAE New Jersey Morristown and CAE Dallas.

TAG Aviation Holdings, one of Europe’s premier management companies, has again selected CAE as its training partner for an additional 3 years. TAG Aviation Holdings’ pilots training will span across CAE’s global training network of small, mid-size, super mid-size, large cabin, and transport category.

Vulcan Flight Management, a part 91 corporate flight department, has extended its partnership with CAE by entering in a new four-year pilot-training contract for Gulfstream G650 and Bombardier Global Express training programs. Its pilots will continue initial type-rating and recurrent training at CAE Dallas and CAE Dubai.

AJW Group, the independent specialist in the global management of aircraft spares, has strengthened its long-term partnership with Tigerair in Australia with an extension to its Power-by-the-Hour (PBH) contract.
|
AJW Group has been providing an integrated component pooling, repair and logistics support programme to Tigerair since 2014. During this time, it has delivered improved operational efficiency and cost savings, which continue to be key focus areas for the airline.
|
The PBH agreement covers Tigerair’s fleet of A320 aircraft. Under the support programme, AJW will satisfy the airlines material requirements across a variety of component groups including airframe and engine LRU’s, major assemblies, wheels and brakes, auxiliary power units (APU), thrust reversers and consumables.

Tigerair is an Australian low-cost airline headquartered in Melbourne with two additional established service bases at Sydney and Brisbane Airports. Tigerair operates a fleet of Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 aircraft, across 21 domestic routes out of 12 destinations around Australia.

Lilium, the Munich-based startup developing a revolutionary on-demand air mobility service, has released new footage of its all-electric Lilium Jet as it has completed its first phase of flight testing, a milestone it has reached less than six months since starting its flight test campaign.
|
The Lilium Jet, the first five-seater, all-electric, vertical take-off and landing jet, was revealed in May 2019 and since then has been put through its paces at an airfield in southern Germany. The emissions-free aircraft, which will be able to complete journeys of up to 300 km in one hour on a single charge, has now been flown at speeds exceeding 100 km/h, in increasingly complex maneuvers.

The new footage reveals, for the first time, the aircraft transitioning from vertical flight to level flight. This signature maneuver, first completed just weeks after the aircraft’s maiden flight, is one of aerospace’s greatest challenges and is what gives the Lilium Jet its significant range advantage, with its two sets of wings contributing to much higher levels of efficiency than in aircraft lifted solely by rotors.

With a range of 300 km, the Lilium Jet will be capable of completing much longer journeys than the vast majority of its competitors, allowing it to connect entire regions rather than just making short trips across a single city.
|
Lilium has also completed its first dedicated manufacturing facility, an important step towards preparing the company for serial production of the Lilium Jet.
|
The first manufacturing facility, a 3,000 m² space located at the company's headquarters, will soon be complemented by a second, much larger, facility which is already under construction at the same site. Combined, they will support Lilium's aim of producing hundreds of aircraft a year by the time commercial services begin in 2025.

Jet Aviation and GE Aviation have signed a long-term agreement for a comprehensive safety and fleet modernization project including C-FOQA™. The program covers Jet Aviation’s global fleet of some 300 aircraft including Airbus, Boeing BBJ, Bombardier, Dassault, Gulfstream and more.

FOQA (Flight Operations Quality Assurance), also commonly referred to as FDM (Flight Data Monitoring), is the process of analyzing and reviewing routinely recorded flight data. Airlines and operators that adopt FOQA are better able to identify and eliminate potential safety hazards in flight operations.
|

Václav Havel Airport Prague will introduce its winter flight schedule as of Sunday October 27, 2019. It will provide direct flights from 121 destinations in 46 countries, to six more destinations than over the same period last year. New destinations that have been added this winter include Lviv, Kharkiv, Chisinau, Florence, Beirut, Nur-Sultan and Keflavik.

During the winter season, 60 airlines, of which 13 are low-cost carriers, will operate regular direct flights from Prague. This means that Prague Airport has continued to maintain a very good balance between traditional and low-cost airlines.

Destinations that will be new in the upcoming winter flight schedule will include Lviv, Kharkiv, Chisinau, Casablanca, Perm, Florence, Nur-Sultan, Stockholm – Skavsta, Bournemouth, Billund, Beirut, Keflavik, Malta, Odessa and Venice – Treviso. Four airlines will operate winter service from Prague for the first time: SCAT Airlines, SkyUp Airlines, Air Malta and Arkia Airlines.

StandardAero will open the company’s first European-based business aviation parts warehouse to support operators and strengthen the company’s parts support in the EMEA region. The warehouse operations will be located in Amsterdam with a goal for full functionality by January of 2020.
|
The new facility will stock current parts that support Honeywell TFE731, HTF7000, CFE738 engines and Honeywell APU parts. Additional future expansions will include parts to support Lear, Challenger, Global, Gulfstream, Hawker, Falcon and Citation airframes.
|
On behalf of StandardAero, the company will work in partnership with ASA-100 accredited MNX Global Logistics who will act as a forward stockist. Locating the inventory in Amsterdam allows for easy shipments across Europe and beyond.

TrueNoord, the specialist regional aircraft lessor, has placed an ATR 72-600 aircraft from its fleet on a new lease programme for 6 years with expanding Bangladeshi domestic and international operator, US-Bangla.
|
Previously under a running lease agreement with HOP! the aircraft supplements US-Bangla’s
recent acquisition of new ATR 72-600s which now form the backbone of the airline’s modern regional fleet.
|
TrueNoord agreed on an early retirement of the aircraft at HOP! to assist them in the phase-out of their ATR fleet after HOP! decided to cease operations of the type earlier in 2019.
