Lufthansa Group, the holding company of German flag-carrying Lufthansa and owner and operator of Swiss International Airlines, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Air Dolomiti and Eurowings has announced eight major changes in senior management roles within the group which will take effect between February 1 and April 1, 2022.
|
Jens Ritter, currently a Member of the Executive Board and COO of Eurowings, will become the new CEO of Lufthansa Airlines on April 1, 2022, succeeding Klaus Froese. Froese is handing over his post after more than six years on the Executive Board of Lufthansa Airlines, most recently as CEO.
|
Annette Mann, who is currently Head of Corporate Responsibility at Lufthansa Group, will be the new CEO of Austrian Airlines* as of March 1, 2022. Annette Mann succeeds Dr. Alexis von Hoensbroech.
|
Dietmar Focke, currently Head of Engine Services at Lufthansa Technik, will move to the Executive Board of Lufthansa Cargo*, being responsible for Operations and Human Resources as of March 1, 2022. He succeeds Harald Gloy, who is leaving the company at his own request.

Dr. Jörg Beißel, Head of Corporate Controlling at the Lufthansa Group, will become the CFO of Lufthansa Airlines as of April 1, 2022. He will be taking over from Patrick Staudacher, who will not extend his contract at Lufthansa at his own request and will leave the company at the end of April.
|
Frank Bauer, currently a Member of the Executive Board at Eurowings and responsible for Finance and HR, will become responsible for the corporate controlling of Lufthansa Group as of April 1, 2022.
|
Human Resources and Finance on the Eurowings Executive Board will be taken over by Kai Duve as of February 1, 2022. Duve is presently head of the Frankfurt cabin crews division of Lufthansa Airlines.
|
Benedikt Schneider, currently responsible for the Executive Office of the Chief Human Resources and Legal Officer of Deutsche Lufthansa AG will succeed Kai Duve, also as of February 1, 2022.
|
Wilken Bormann, currently Head of Lufthansa Group Finance, will assume responsibility for Finance and Human Resources* on the LSG Group Executive Board as of March 1, 2022. He succeeds Dr. Kristin Neumann, who is leaving the company at her own request at the end of February.
|

AerCap Holdings N.V. has delivered the first of 14 new PW1500G-powered Airbus A220-300 aircraft to Breeze Airways.
|
The 14-aircraft deal comprises the sale and leaseback of 11 A220 aircraft, the second of which is scheduled to deliver this month with the remaining deliveries continuing through 2022 and 2023 and three aircraft owned by Einn Volant Aircraft Leasing Holdings Limited (EVAL), a global aircraft leasing platform and joint venture between AerCap and Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ), a global investment group. All three aircraft will be managed by AerCap and are scheduled for delivery through 2022.

“Breeze is excited to take delivery of our first of 80 firm A220s via sale and lease back with AerCap,” said Breeze Airways’ Chairman and CEO David Neeleman. “The AerCap financing structure further enhances the operating economics of our A220 aircraft while allowing us to optimize our balance sheet.”

Franco-Italian turboprop manufacturer ATR has reached another milestone in its history, delivering its 1,600th aircraft to national flag carrier, Air New Zealand. This delivery highlights the enduring strength of the ATR programme, providing essential connectivity to communities all over the world. It also proves the value of the ATR 72-600 at serving domestic routes in New Zealand as it is the last of 29 aircraft ordered.

While ties between the two companies initially began some 25 years ago with the delivery of the first generation ATRs, this last decade has seen the forging of closer ties, with the delivery of the 29 -600 aircraft and through an important collaboration that enhanced the aircraft’s approach capabilities. The introduction of the RNP AR 0.3/0.3 feature, part of ATR’s latest Standard 3 avionics suite, helped the airline and its pilots with the accuracy of the approach into Queenstown airport and providing reliable connectivity to the local community, who benefit greatly from ski tourism in the mountainous region.

Sustainability is also a key concern for both airline and manufacturer, with Air New Zealand having chosen the ATR 72-600 for its fleet as it burns 40% less fuel and emits 40% less CO2 than a similarly sized regional jet. This shared commitment to further enhancing eco-efficiency led to an agreement to work together to explore the future of the regional aviation ecosystem, including hybrid aircraft in 2018.

Delta Air Lines is returning to Sweden in summer 2022, with nonstop daily service from New York-JFK. Customers flying to the capital, Stockholm, will enjoy more choice of cabin experience, including Delta One business class. Also available for the first time will be Delta Premium Select, the airline’s premium economy cabin, offering larger seats with more legroom and an adjustable footrest.

Flights will begin June 1 and offer connections from across the United States at Delta’s JFK hub. Delta has been rebuilding its network since international borders reopened earlier this year. With the addition of Stockholm to its 2022 route map, Delta will have more than 100% capacity increase on European routes next year compared with summer 2021. In total, Delta plans to operate up to 70 daily flights to 21 destinations in Europe from ten US airports next summer.

Canada Jetlines Operations (Canada Jetlines) has announced the signing of a definitive lease agreement for its first Airbus A320 aircraft, with delivery of the aircraft expected by February 2022.
|
The aircraft is an Airbus A320-200, listed under the manufacturer’s serial number 4175, equipped with two CFM56-5B4/3 engines. Prior to delivery, the aircraft will be painted with Canada Jetlines livery and include installation of the new Recaro 3530 seats, with in-seat power and personal electronic device holder installed. The airline will also install the Flymingo Box system, which offers a flexible, aircraft-powered digital suite to enhance passenger experience and provide wireless inflight entertainment options.

The WestJet Group has released that Alexis von Hoensbroech will be appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the WestJet Group. The official start date for von Hoensbroech is subject to the timing of a successful immigration process, which is expected to be completed before the end of the first quarter of 2022. Harry Taylor, interim CEO, will continue in the role until that time and then resume his position as Executive Vice-President Finance and Chief Financial Officer.

Prior to accepting this role, von Hoensbroech served as CEO of Austrian Airlines, starting in 2018, where he led the airline through the COVID-19 crisis, significantly strengthening its competitiveness during a difficult period. Austrian Airlines is part of the Lufthansa Group and Austria's largest airline, operating a significant network in central and eastern Europe, among the world's most competitive and lowest cost airline markets.

Low-cost, long-haul airline French bee (Groupe Dubreuil member) has taken delivery of its first A350-1000 aircraft, on lease from Air Lease Corporation, to join its fleet and make the airline an all-A350 fleet operator. The aircraft is the first of two A350-1000s to be operated by the carrier on route from Paris to Saint Denis de La Reunion Island in the Indian Ocean.

The A350-1000s will complement the four A350-900 aircraft already in the French bee fleet, providing the airline with operational flexibility and eco-efficient solutions for its network.
|
The aircraft features 480 seats in a two-class layout (40 premium-class and 440 economy-class), providing all the comfort and amenities of Airbus’ Airspace cabin, including state-of-the-art, in-flight passenger entertainment (IFE) and full WiFi connectivity throughout the cabin.
|
|
Simultaneously, the Dubreuil group also takes delivery of another A350-1000 on lease from Air Lease Corporation intended for Air Caraïbes, bringing the number of Airbus aircraft in the group's fleet to 15.
