United Parcel Services Inc. (UPS) has confirmed it has placed a firm order with Boeing Co for an additional eight 767 freighter jets. The order follows on from the 19 long-range freighters UPS ordered in December last year during the e-commerce boom which had raised the demand for air cargo services. 2021 was a good year foe Boeing freighter orders with 80 firm orders for new wide-body freighters and 80 Boeing Converted Freighters (BCFs).

For the jets ordered in 2021, UPS expects delivery from 2023 through 2025, while delivery of these latest eight jets will commence in 2025. According to Boeing, this order will take UPS’ fleet of 767s to 108 jets. While parcel cargo demand has tailed off from a peak during the pandemic, Boeing has forecast a demand from air carriers of 2,795 more dedicated freighters over the next 20-year period, of which 940 are anticipated to be new wide-body jets.

Air bp, the international aviation fuel products and services supplier, has introduced a next generation new model all-electric refueller for customers lifting Jet-A1 at Brisbane Airport, one of Australia’s largest airports.
|
The refueller was put into operation on 30 August 2022 at Brisbane Airport. Attending on the day, was The Hon Catherine King MP, Federal Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government, who spoke more broadly about decarbonising the aviation sector.
|
This refueller uses Lithium-Ion batteries and digital charging mechanisms making it the first all-electric hazardous goods vehicle and refueller approved for use in Australia. The refueller can carry approximately 16,000 litres of fuel and has been designed to operate for a full day with overnight charging. Air bp also anticipates that the electric refueller will reduce bp’s operation and maintenance costs when compared with similar diesel-fuelled refuellers.

The refueller was manufactured in collaboration with SEA Electric, a global leader in e-mobility solutions which provided the electric power system and Refuel International, a global manufacturer and supplier of specialised refuelling vehicles, equipment, and support services to the aviation industry.

Lufthansa Technik and the Mexican carrier mas - formerly known as MasAir- have signed a comprehensive Total Component Support (TCS®) contract covering repair and overhaul of components for mas´s Airbus A330F fleet. The new contract governs supply for up to eight aircraft over a period of eight years. This is the second contract as
Lufthansa Technik already supports the Boeing 767F fleet with its TCS product.

FL Technics, international aircraft maintenance and repair (MRO) service organisation, has signed a contract with Saudi Arabia Flag carrier Saudia. Under the agreement, FL Technics will provide them with aircraft base maintenance at the Kaunas hangar for the airline's Airbus A321 and Airbus A320 model aircraft. The first aircraft already landed at Kaunas airport at the beginning of August.

Saudia is one of the three largest airlines in the Middle East, operating local and international scheduled flights to more than 100 destinations in the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Europe and North America.

Most recently C&L has partnered with a manufacturer to become the exclusive distributor on a PMA part alternative for a Rear Tail Cone Lens assembly for the ATR aircraft. PMA part number S5387300500202-CL is compatible with OEM part numbers S5387300500202, S5387300500200, S5387300500201 and currently in stock and available for flat-rate exchange.

Previous to this, C&L partnered with a manufacturer to become the exclusive distributor on a PMA part alternative for an ATR Static Port Cover (part number S1201001000300-CL, compatible with OEM part number S1201001000300) that offers longer life compared to original units due to thickness and materials used.

Boeing and the Lufthansa Group have celebrated the delivery of the first 787 Dreamliner, a 787-9, to Europe's largest airline group at Paine Field, Everett, Wash.
|
The Lufthansa Group has 32 firm orders for the 787 and joins nearly 50 customers worldwide in operating the industry's most fuel efficient and capable airplane. Boeing designed the 787 family with superior efficiency, which allows airlines to profitably open new routes and fly people directly where they want to go in exceptional comfort.

Using 25% less fuel and creating 25% fewer emissions than the airplanes they replace, the 787 family has avoided more than 125 billion pounds of carbon emissions since entering service in 2011.

"With the Boeing 787, we are introducing another modern aircraft type that is one of the most fuel-efficient long-haul aircraft in our fleet," said Jens Ritter, CEO Lufthansa Airlines. "This will allow us to significantly further improve the average CO2 balance. This aircraft is sustainable and offers customers a premium flying experience."
