Embraer and American Airlines have signed a firm order for 15 E175 jets in a 76-seat configuration. The contract has a value of US$705 million, based on current list prices, and will be included in Embraer’s 2018 fourth-quarter backlog.
|
Deliveries will take place in 2020. Combined with the airline’s previous orders for the E175, this new contract results in a total of 104 E175 jets for American Airlines since 2013. The most recent order took place in May 2018 for 15 aircraft.
|
American Airlines has selected Envoy, a wholly owned subsidiary of American Airlines Group, to operate the 15 aircraft, which will be configured with a total of 76 seats, being 12 in First Class and 64 in Main Cabin, including Main Cabin Extra seats.

Air Botswana, the Botswana national flag carrier, has taken delivery of its first ATR 72-600 on November 2.
|
The aircraft, delivered in Toulouse, is the first of a contract signed in July for two ATR 72-600s. The second is planned for delivery before the end of the year. The ATR 72-600s will upgrade Air Botswana’s current fleet of three ATR 42-500s and one ATR 72-500s.
|
The brand-new aircraft is configured with a 70-seat, dual class cabin and equipped with the latest avionics. With these two ATR 72-600, the Botswana airline makes a clear forward looking decision to benefit from a fleet with the most modern turboprops equipped with cutting-edge technology.

ATR sees a demand of 300 new turboprops over the next 20 years for the Africa and Middle-East region. Regional aviation provides essential connectivity around the world. A 10% increase in regional flights generates additional increases of 5% in tourism, 6% in regional GDP and 8% foreign direct investment. Turboprops are key in connecting communities around the world: 36% of all commercial airports rely exclusively on turboprops and 50% rely, also exclusively, on regional aircraft.

Ryanair has released its October traffic statistic including Lauda traffic as follows: Ryanair traffic grew 7% to 12.6 million customers compared to the previous year, with a 96% load factor. Lauda traffic was 0.5 million customers with an 89% load factor.

Arctic Aviation Assets, a subsidiary of Norwegian Air Shuttle ASA, has signed an agreement for sale of five Airbus 320neo aircraft.
|
The aircraft are currently leased out and thus not operated by the Company. Delivery will take place during the fourth quarter of 2018. The transaction is expected to increase the Company's liquidity by USD 62 million after repayment of debt and have a positive equity effect. Sale proceeds will be used to repay debt and to increase the Company´s liquidity.

Delta Air Lines has reported operating performance for October 2018. Total traffic for October 2018 increased 2.7%, while total capacity for the month increased 3.% compared to October 2017. Load factor was slightly down, 0.5 points to 85.5% compared to the previous year.

Oriens Aviation, the exclusive British Isles Pilatus Centre and sales distributor for the PC-12, and London Biggin Hill Airport have welcomed Jetfly’s Pilatus PC-24 (LX-PCA) on 18th October, as part of the fractional operator’s European tour.

The Luxembourg-based operator, European launch customer of the PC-24, flew in the first of its four newly-accepted versatile light jets, plus one of its 22 Pilatus PC-12NGs, to showcase to a private audience gathered at Oriens Aviation’s new maintenance base.

Exostar, a leader in trusted, secure business collaboration in aerospace and defense (A&D), life sciences, and healthcare, has announced that Philip E. Goslin has joined its Board of Directors.
|
Goslin currently serves as vice president of Global Supply Chain for Lockheed Martin’s Rotary and Mission Systems (RMS) business area, which comprises more than 1,000 programs around the world. In that role, Goslin’s responsibilities span all aspects of supply chain strategy, supply chain operations, and subcontract program management for RMS.
|
Goslin also currently leads Lockheed Martin’s Supply Chain Council. In that capacity, he oversees supply chain policy, enterprise initiatives, and cross-business area collaboration.

C&L Aerospace, a C&L Aviation Group company, has renewed an agreement with Japan Air Commuter (JAC) to provide power-by-the-hour services for its fleet of Saab 340 aircraft. The multi-year contract includes rotable inventory, landing gear and more, and will cover JAC’s fleet of Saab 340 aircraft.

This agreement is a continuation of an original agreement, signed between the two companies in 2016. C&L, headquartered in the USA, is one of the largest Saab 340 MRO in the world and a dominant player in Saab 340 after-market support. Its comprehensive and proven Saab 340 support continue to make it an ideal partner for JAC.

Avolon, the international aircraft leasing company, has released that ORIX Corporation (ORIX), through its wholly owned subsidiary ORIX Aviation Systems, has completed the acquisition of a 30% stake in Avolon from Bohai Capital for US$2.2 billion, based on a March, 31, 2018 NAV.
|
The addition of ORIX, an investment grade institution, diversifies and strengthens the financial profile of Avolon's shareholder base and facilitates positive credit rating momentum. Additionally, the new governance structure enhances protections for minority shareholder and debt investors.

Munich Airport and the renowned Senseable City Lab at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) have reached an agreement to work together in the development of the LabCampus Innovation Center at Munich Airport.
|
Plans to launch the LabCampus future project, an innovation lab on the airport campus that will promote cooperation between companies and across industry boundaries, were announced by Munich Airport in March of this year. Starting on November 1, the renowned Senseable City Lab, at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), will be on board to provide conceptual support for the establishment and development of the new innovation campus.

Under an initial three-year cooperation agreement, the MIT Senseable City Lab, based in Cambridge, MA, will act as a research partner, supporting the team in Munich as it turns the campus into an innovative smart city. The goal is to build an ideal urban environment offering optimal conditions for people and companies to work together efficiently, creatively and–above all–under one roof. This will provide a setting to design and develop products and services for the world of the future and to test them onsite. To make this a reality, LabCampus GmbH will work with MIT to establish a future-ready infrastructure right from the start, focusing on state-of-the-art technologies in the areas of energy, mobility and urban planning as well as the connectivity between them for optimal sustainability and livability for the users.

Air New Zealand has become a new operator of the A321neo, following the delivery of its first aircraft this weekend. In total, Air New Zealand will acquire 20 A320neo Family aircraft.
|
Air New Zealand’s first A321neo is painted in the airline’s iconic all black livery. The aircraft is powered by Pratt & Whitney PurePower engines and accommodates 214 passengers in a comfortable single-class layout.
|
Selected for its outstanding operational efficiency, comfort and range, Air New Zealand’s fleet of A320neo aircraft will initially add capacity on the carrier’s trans-Tasman and Pacific Island routes and at a later stage on domestic services.
|
Air New Zealand is an important operator of the A320 Family, with a total of 30 A320ceo currently in service on its domestic, trans-Tasman and Pacific Islands routes.

Lufthansa Technik Intercoat, a subsidiary of Lufthansa Technik AG, has commissioned the world's first partly automated system for coating components with INTERFILL®. As a result, the components can now be coated in a single working step. The entire new system concept was developed in-house at Lufthansa Technik Intercoat.
|
Lufthansa Technik Intercoat specializes in the repair of components using an advanced epoxy coating process. For this purpose, the company from Kaltenkirchen, Germany, developed a material called INTERFILL® that is based on epoxy resin. The material gives components from the aviation, rail and automotive industries a new life cycle and improves their operational characteristics.

Until recently, the advanced epoxy coating process was completely manual, but now a part of the coating process could be automated. The component is fastened to a rotating device in a working booth. Then a robot arm applies INTERFILL® to the component surface through a fine nozzle.
|
A special applicator ensures that the ideal dose is applied with an even layer thickness. The improved application method prevents air pockets from forming, which reduces the amount of corrective work that can otherwise be necessary at times. The innovative system provides consistent, high-quality results and saves a considerable amount of time.

Daniel Coffey has been appointed Regional Sales and Service Manager for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean for StandardAero’s Airlines & Fleets team.
|
Coffey, whose 25-year career includes spells with Honda Aircraft, Hawker Beechcraft and Landmark Aviation, will support a wide range of engines including the PT6A, JT15D and PW100.

Norwegian’s nonstop service to Tampa Bay has commenced. The new twice-weekly service from London Gatwick to Tampa International Airport (TPA) offers holidaymakers a convenient nonstop service with direct access to Florida’s Gulf coast, as well as offering passengers more choice and flexibility when travelling to the sunshine state with Norwegian.
|
In addition to the twice weekly service to Tampa, Norwegian has also increased its winter services to other Florida destinations from London Gatwick. The airline now offers a daily service to Fort Lauderdale, increasing from three flights per week and five weekly flights to Orlando up from three per week.
