BOC Aviation has announced the placement of three new Airbus A320NEO aircraft with Air Macau (Air Macau), all of which are scheduled for delivery in the first half of 2019. The aircraft will be powered by the Pratt & Whitney Geared Turbofan™ Engines.
|

Alaska Air Group has reported October operational results on a consolidated basis for its mainline operations operated by subsidiary Alaska Airlines and for its regional flying operated by subsidiary Horizon Air Industries and third-party regional carriers SkyWest Airlines and Peninsula Airlines.
|
On a combined basis for all operations, Air Group reported a 2.4% increase in traffic on a 2.4% increase in capacity compared to October 2017. Load factor was 83.8%, the same as the prior year.

Markus Binkert, currently Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) of SWISS, will become CCO of the Lufthansa hub in Munich with effect from January 1, 2019. In his new role, he will also be responsible for the Lufthansa Group's overall marketing processes. In his current position as CCO of SWISS, Binkert is already responsible for the Lufthansa Group's revenue management and distribution processes in a dual capacity.

Steffen Harbarth will become a new member of the Management Board of Lufthansa CityLine on January 1, 2019. He will be responsible for the operational division of the Lufthansa subsidiary, which has been operating for a significant part of the feeder traffic at the hubs of Munich and Frankfurt for many years.

Steffen Harbarth succeeds Jörg Eberhart. In his role as President and CEO of Air Dolomiti Eberhart will more intensively drive future projects in the strategically important Italian market.

West Star Aviation highlighted the new Paint and Maintenance Hangars at the Chattanooga facility Open House, November 7, 2018.

With the completion of these new facilities, West Star now occupies over 175,000 ft² of space at the Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport. “The open house was a great way to showcase our new facilities, and to demonstrate to our customers in this area of the country that we are continuing with our heritage of quality, world-class service,” said Jim Rankin, CEO, West Star Aviation.

The recently completed expansion includes a new 65,000 ft² maintenance facility that includes 40,000 ft² of hangar space, and over 25,000 ft² of office and support space. This completion also includes a 45,000 ft² state-of-the-art paint facility that can accommodate the paint needs of most business aircraft flying today, including Gulfstream G550, Embraer Lineage, and Embraer Legacy 600.

West Star Aviation has already started its first customer paint & maintenance project at their newly expanded Chattanooga (CHA) facility. The first customer project to be completed will include a 3C Inspection, Service Bulletins, an avionics installation and a full paint job on a Falcon 2000. This project is anticipated for completion before Q1 of 2019.

Vietnam Airlines (VNA), the national carrier of Vietnam, has taken delivery of its first A321neo in Hamburg, Germany. The aircraft has been acquired on lease from Aviation Capital Group (ACG).
|
Vietnam Airlines will receive 20 A321neo aircraft under its fleet renewal programme. The new addition complements the airline’s Airbus fleet that currently includes 57 A321ceo, three A330-200s and 12 long-range A350 XWB aircraft.
|
Powered by Pratt and Whitney Pure Power engines, the Vietnam Airlines A321neo features a premium two-class layout with eight business class seats and 195 economy class seats.
|
Selected for its outstanding operational efficiency, comfort and range, the A321neo will be deployed by Vietnam Airlines on services across Asia.
|

Middle East airline Gulf Air and CFM International have signed a long-term agreement for the maintenance of the airline’s LEAP-1A engines. The agreement is valued at just over US$1 billion at list price.
|
Under the terms of this 10-year Rate per Flight Hour agreement, which covers a total of 65 LEAP-1A engines that the airline ordered in 2017, CFM will provide maintenance support for Gulf Air’s fleet on a dollar per flight hour basis.
|
Gulf Air has been a CFM customer since 1992 and currently operates a fleet of 16 Airbus A320ceo aircraft powered by CFM56-5B engines. The company began commercial operations with the A320neo powered by LEAP-1A engines in August 2018.

Cadence Aerospace, a provider of highly complex aerospace components and assemblies to commercial and defense customers, has appointed Darren Waltier as Director, Business Development, Cadence Aerospace—Aerostructures.
|
Waltier brings an expansive portfolio of skills to his new role of building new business for Cadence while helping to enhance and deepen relationships with existing customers. He reports to Robert Saia, Senior Vice President, Business Development for Cadence Aerospace, and joins the Company’s growing and continuously strengthening Business Development team.

Delta Air Lines has ordered 10 additional Airbus A330-900 widebody aircraft, expanding their A330neo order book from 25 to 35 aircraft. This latest order supports Delta’s international growth strategy in the near to medium term.
|
Simultaneously, Delta and Airbus have agreed to defer 10 previously ordered A350 XWBs to 2025-26 in order to accommodate the airline’s long-term growth strategy. Delta currently operates 11 A350-900 aircraft and expects a further four in 2019-2020. Delta’s A330 fleet stands today at 42 widebody aircraft.

GE Aviation’s original Boeing 747 Flying Testbed aircraft made its final flight today from the Flight Test Operation in Victorville, California to the Pima Air & Space Museum in Tucson, Arizona. The donated aircraft will join more than 350 historical aircraft at the museum that is one of the largest non-government funded aviation and space museums in the world.

The aircraft was the oldest 747 in active service, rolling off the assembly line on October 17, 1969 and making its first flight with Pan American World Airlines on March 3, 1970. GE Aviation acquired the aircraft in 1992 after Pan Am flew the aircraft called the Clipper Ocean Spray for 21 years. The aircraft flew a total of 90,000 hours and 19,251 cycles.
|
The transformation from passenger aircraft to a flying testbed required significant modifications, including removing seats, strengthening the left wing and tail for flight testing and installing data systems. The aircraft provided critical flight data on more than 11 distinct engine models and 39 engine builds, including widebody engines likes the GE90, GEnx and the Engine Alliance GP7200, CF34 engines for regional jets, narrow body engines like CFM56 and LEAP, and the Passport for business aviation. GE Aviation flew the plane on its final test flight on January 25, 2017.
|
In 2010, GE acquired a B747-400 aircraft from Japan Airlines, which was converted into the Propulsion Test Platform (PTP). Powered by GE’s CF6-80C2 engines, the new PTP offers better capabilities and improved integrated systems compared to the older flying test bed. The PTP has flown missions for the LEAP and GE9X engines.

Al-Qahtani Aviation, parent company of SaudiGulf Airlines, and CFM International have signed a purchase agreement for LEAP-1A engines to power 10 firm, 10 option A320neo family aircraft that are scheduled to begin delivery in 2023.
|
The value of the agreement, which includes the firm engine order and a long-term service agreement, is more than US$1.0 billion U.S. at list price. The airline is also leasing an additional 20 LEAP-powered A320neo aircraft and plans to take its first aircraft in 2020.
|
To support the entire fleet, including the leased aircraft, the airline has also signed a 12-year Rate per Flight Hour agreement under the terms of which CFM will provide maintenance support on a dollar per flight hour basis.
|

Avolon, the international aircraft leasing company, has reported the repayment by Emerald Aviation Finance (Emerald) of the outstanding US$407 million of its Class A-1 Fixed Rate Asset Backed Notes and Class B-1 Fixed Rate Asset Backed Notes (the “Notes”) associated with its aircraft securitisation.
|
Following repayment, the Notes will be de-listed from Euronext Dublin (formerly the Irish Stock Exchange). Launched in 2013, Emerald was Avolon’s inaugural aircraft securitisation.
|
The repayment of the Emerald securitisation forms part of Avolon’s commitment to continue to reduce the level of secured debt within its capital structure.
