Airbus has signed a Memorandum of Understanding to the Thailand’s Civil Aviation Training Center (CATC) to collaborate on the training of pilots and maintenance training. The two will identify means of deeper cooperation for training aviation professionals in Thailand, subsequent to an existing arrangement where Airbus is working with CATC on basic maintenance training. The overall intention of the collaboration is to support the development of Thailand’s aviation industry by ensuring that there is a steady supply of pilots, engineers and mechanics for the country’s airlines and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) centres. According to Airbus’ Global Services Forecast 2018 there will be a need for 220,000 new pilots and more than 260,000 new technicians in the Asia-Pacific region over the next 20 years.

Thailand is an important partner for Airbus, as well as one of the fastest growing aviation markets in the region. GA Telesis (GAT) has announced the consignment of four Cathay Pacific 777 aircraft for disassembly.
|
The Company will position the components at its global distribution centers in immediate proximity to its airline customers. The first disassembly, currently underway in the US, will be followed by additional disassembles in succession at both US and UK-based disassembly facilities.
|
Once routed through the GA Telesis Ecosystem™ the USM (used serviceable material) will be available to GA Telesis’ client base directly and through the Boeing Parts Page Marketplace. In addition, this new inventory will back-fill and supplement USM inventory needs for various sales, lease, and iGEAR™ services programs in total supporting GA Telesis’ expansive global customer network.

The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has approved the A330-900 for ETOPS (Extended-range Twin engine aircraft Operations) “beyond 180 minutes” diversion time. This significant achievement means that operators of the A330neo, which is powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 7000
engines, will benefit from the most efficient, reliable and direct long-range routings.

The approval, which includes ETOPS 180 min. capability in the aircraft’s basic specification, now also includes the option for “ETOPS 285 min.” This extends the potential air diversion distance to around 2,000nm. The U.S. FAA’s respective ETOPS certification is expected soon.
|
A330neo operators which choose the ETOPS 285 min. option will be able to serve new direct ‘non-limiting’ routings. Meanwhile, operators flying on existing routes (currently flown with up to 180-minute diversion time) will be able to traverse a straighter, quicker and more fuel efficient path, and also have access to more – and possibly better equipped – en-route diversion airports if needed.

The granting of this ETOPS capability is a testimony to the aircraft’s design and systems maturity, which has been demonstrated to be as good as its predecessor – the versatile and extremely reliable A330-200/A330-300 family, proven over many millions of flights.

C&L Aerospace has opened a new satellite office in Singapore to serve commercial and regional airline customers in Asia.
|
The office will be managed by C&L’s new Regional Sales Manager for Asia, Isham Salim, who recently joined the company. The new location will focus on commercial and regional aircraft engines and parts sales. The Singapore sales office will allow the company to better serve its Asian customers and expand its geographic coverage.
|
“Singapore is a perfect location to service the Asian market,” said Martin Cooper, Senior VP of Sales for C&L. “Having Isham and the Singapore office provides C&L with an important base that will help us strategically serve customers by offering more face-to-face time and quicker solutions to their demands.”

The U.S. Navy has awarded Boeing a US$2.4 billion production contract for the next 19 P-8A Poseidon aircraft. The contract includes 10 aircraft to add to the current inventory of P-8As in the U.S. Navy fleet, all five jets currently under contract for Norway and the four aircraft remaining for the existing United Kingdom contract, bringing the total United Kingdom acquisition to nine aircraft.

The United Kingdom and Norway are acquiring the Boeing aircraft through the Foreign Military Sales process and will receive a variant designed and produced for the U.S. Navy called the P-8A Poseidon. The United Kingdom will receive their first aircraft in 2019 and Norway will begin receiving aircraft in 2021.
|
The P-8 is a long-range multi-mission maritime patrol aircraft capable of broad-area, maritime and littoral operations. A military derivative of the Boeing Commercial Next-Generation 737 airplane, the
P-8 combines superior performance and reliability with an advanced mission system that ensures maximum interoperability in the battle space.

Skyworld Aviation has assisted in the sale of an ERJ 170 and associated spares to new operator of the type Air Botswana. Serial number 17000318 arrived in Botswana on Monday December 31, 2018, after having been in pre-delivery maintenance in Toronto, Canada. It has now been re-registered as A2-ABM.

Skyworld Aviation acted on behalf of a U.S. based regional aircraft sales and leasing firm for whom they have previously arranged two CRJ 700 leases and the sale of an AE3007A engine.
|
This latest transaction further demonstrates Skyworld Aviation’s prominence in the regional jet market, having now concluded approximately 175 jet placements worldwide.

AVIAA, the international group purchasing organization for business aviation, is adding over 150 new aircraft to their membership with the announcement on January 28, that it has reached an agreement with Europe’s smart purchasing business Convolus to merge their operations.
|
The move will see AVIAA widen its footprint in Europe with the establishment of an office in Munich, Germany, complementing its existing bases in the UK and US.
|
Irena Deville, co-founder and CEO of Convolus, becomes Managing Director – Europe and Middle East for AVIAA, and she will work alongside California-based CEO Gillian Hayes and her team.
|
After the acquisition formally concludes this month, the AVIAA community will support a member fleet of nearly 500 aircraft and a network of suppliers with global operations across every spend category, including a robust international FBO network.
|
Existing Convolus members will be seamlessly integrated into the AVIAA community. In addition to the increased buying power the fleet merger will afford them, they will also be able to accrue further cost savings in the AVIAA supply chain, which covers expanded service categories, including insurance, maintenance, fuel, business operations, and crew training.
|
AVIAA’s predominately US-based members will be able to draw benefits and savings from the enlarged group’s 100-strong European FBO network, from large multi-destination handlers to stand-alone individual FBOs.

CargoLogic Germany, a cargo airline in the process of being established, is as of now member of the Board of Airline Representatives in Germany e.V. (BARIG).
|
The association based at the airport in Frankfurt represents the interest of over 120 national and international airlines to airport operators, politics, authorities and other institutions.
|
CargoLogic Germany was registered last year as a company name and applied to the German Federal Aviation Authority for an operating permit and the Air Operator Certificate (AOC). The home base is the airport in Leipzig/Halle. At the beginning, the fleet consists of three Boeing 737 aircraft which will serve destinations in Europe and beyond as soon as the operating license is granted by the German Federal Aviation Authority.

Aircraft lessor Aviation Capital Group (ACG) has been mandated by AirBridgeCargo Airlines (ABC) to structure, arrange, and provide a guarantee for a senior loan to finance a portion of the airlines purchase price of one Boeing 747-8F aircraft expected to deliver to ABC in February 2019.
|
The ABC financing mandate was awarded to ACG in connection with ACG’s Aircraft Financing Solutions (AFS) program. The AFS program complements ACG’s operating lease business by providing customers with cost effective aircraft financing solutions.
|

The specific 10,000th repair was on a Honeywell model 36-150RJ APU for a regional aircraft operator.
